Georgetown House Values

Georgetown house values have a history that is almost as interesting as the town itself.  It is interesting to note how the population diversity (or lack thereof) has effected the house values of this charming colonial town.  In the 1930s, government officials working for the Franklin Delano Roosevelt administration rediscovered the neighborhood of Georgetown and invested time, effort and money into once again making it a fashionable place to live.  This revitalization process was obviously appealing to those looking to relocate to a place that had some historical significant to it, yet could still provide the amenities that top dollar homes demanded exist in the surrounding area.

Home values in the Georgetown area have appreciated more when compared to other similar cities across the country.   Growth and home values are increasing as Georgetown remains a popular place to walk, eat and shop.

It is difficult not to fall in love with the beauty of the water that can be observed on the C&O Canal and the Potomac River.  Georgetown’s mule-drawn barges, brick-lined streets, and gardens hidden behind walls built by some of the first residents of our country, all set a beautiful and historic scene that those living in Georgetown would argue rival most historical cities in the East.  As the business district of Georgetown remains primarily limited to the University and government jobs in the embassy, new construction is not the norm nor are housing units designed for corporate living with the exception of apartment and condo complexes primarily used by students and young singles.
